Wow - 2002 to 2008 were some GREAT times around here.

So sad to see it be overgrown with weeds!

It pains me to have to get my fix at...gasp....the museum. This place ruled the wasteland back in the day for sure. Great times and good friends met through this website.

no doubt

Every time I come back here, I picture this giant room, overgrown with falling ceiling tiles, mold, and dripping water. Debris on the floor and smell of forgotten-ness.

I say..."anyone here" and it echos and quickly fades. I slowly turn back around, shoulders hunched, a leave the way I came in.

I miss this place, a lot!

It makes me sick to think about all that was lost...

The good news is that it's not really "lost."

When I moved the site to the new hosting, it seems the database did not get fully restored...so large chunks of content are missing.

I have the original database backed up, so it's just a matter of being able to commit the time to restore the original backup, and then the current content on top of it. I just have not had the time to do that yet, as it will probably need to be two full business days, so that I can call upon InVision (the software publishers) for the delicate procedure.

Hopefully soon.

Best,

Mike

I'm not allowed in the Vintage Freestyle section because I don't have a front brake our a Potts mod, but...

this is good news. The real value of this website is in the massive archive.

That is FANTASTIC news Mike. Thank you. A lot of us will really appreciate that content being restored. Take your time. Just the fact that I know it has not been completely lost sets me at ease. Back in 2006 after a server upgrade, everything was wiped clean and Rick either didn't restore it or it was never properly backed up. That really sucked.

I bounced in here random...

Is it a sign to start reading or posting agin - LOL ??

I second that.
Chevron Envy
Welp, figured I stop in an yell "H E L L O" in the empty room again. Still hoping someday at least some of this is restored.

Good luck Mike C!

Wow been a long time.

Great to hear the backup is still in tact.

I hope you're doing well Mike C!

Thank you for continuing this site!

Clips still stink.
radlad1
There was a post on the museum about creating an 'anything goes chat/post room there.
Made me think of the end of this site with the clip vs flat war.

I had to pop in and look around....

This is exactly how I picture it as well.

But....

As I turn to leave, my eyes catch a glimpse of a dust and dirt covered neon green frame with a white 5 spoked mag in a dimly lit, dusty, cobwebbed filled corner...

HA! There's someone else here!!!!

How have you been???
Chevron Envy
Maybe if we just REVIVE the same few posts it will be easier to catch up with each other without having to navigate around the forum to find active threads?

I'll start posting here regularly, consider it my "beacon" for old friends and members

Been doing well.
Like many others, after being in the hobby for 12 to 15 years, I sold off all of the excess stuff, kept the really sentimental stuff.

I spend quite a bit of time on BMX Museum, but I miss this place.
The Museum is ok, but even back in the days when this place was hopping, the Museum never felt right. Its cool, don't get me wrong, but
this place will always be home.
If it wasn't for my Googling of Mike Buff back in '05, I would have most likely never knew there was such a following for 'old kids bikes'. laugh.gif

It's kind of a bummer to see all of the old posts and pics that were here are unavailable now.... sad.gif
Chevron Envy
Great to "see" you again. I miss it too, so many memories here over the years.

I'm hoping the old posts can be revived someday. There's so much information in those threads.

I'll keep stopping in from time to time to post here.
BOB-O
Holy Cow. It's been a while since i've been here. This is what started it all for us.. Miss it too
Chevron Envy
We're gettin' the band back together! That's what's up!

I still have more posts on VintageBMX than I do at the other place and it's been years since I posted here regularly.

Alright,alright…where Chip at?….lol😂😂😂😂

Checkin' in. Retired in July and been mostly mountain-biking the last few years. Sold off most of my collection. About 15 or so BMX bikes still around, but most are my son's. He's turned out pretty good. Works full-time at a LBS and is a bicycle fanatic (all kinds). Barring some miracle, he will be following my bad example and testing for the police dept in a few years. God help him. I tried...he does NOT want to be a firefighter.

Congrats on the retirement. My nephew is in school to be a cop. Gotta be aware of all the auditors out there these days.

Man! I just wish this site didn't die. It was sooooooo good. So many friendships forged here. I'll always be thankful the friends I met through this site. Some of them, still friends today.

Some, I speak to regularly - this means you Bob O!

So much fun back then, I can't believe it's been this long.
